Grand Master Jim Grimestad

The title "Grand Master" goes along with the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt.   Grand Master Jim Grimestad attained the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt after testing in Seoul, South Korea in 2006. He grew up in Fargo and started taking TaeKwonDo lessons from 10th Degree Great Grand Master Moo Yong Yun in 1978. He earned his 1st Degree Black Belt in 1982.   In 1992 when Great Grand Master Yun retired he left his schools to his head instructor, Grand Master Jim.  He continues to teach in the same traditional manner that he was instructed in.  He continues to train with Great Grand Master Yun and travels with Great Grand Master yun to Korea for additional training about every 2 years. He lives in Moorhead with his wife Shiaomin and daughters Rose and Allison. Instructors:

In 1991, the Father of TaeKwonDo in Fargo, 9th Degree Grand Master Moo Yong Yun, retired and left his schools to his head instructor Jim Grimestad.
Now a 7th degree Grand Master himself, Master Jim had been a student of Grand Master Yun since he was 11 years old in 1978. Grand Master Jim continues to teach TaeKwonDo in the traditional way as taught to him by Grand master Yun.

Grand Master Jim Grimestad travels to Korea with Great Grand Master Yun about every two years for further training and testing. Master Jim is a certified 7th Degree Black Belt in Chang Moo Kwan TaeKwonDo, a certified 6th Degree Black Belt in World TaeKwonDo Federation TaeKwonDo, a 4th Degree Master in HapKiDo ( the Korean art of throwing and ground fighting) and a 4th Degree Master in KumDo ( the Korean art of the sword).

Grand Master Jim travels to Korea every two years for additional training and testing.
Grand Master Jim is a founding member of the International Black Belt Federation and the Northern Taekwondo League. He is a former member of the North Dakota State Athletic Commission and a Mixed Martial Arts referee and judge.

Mister Richard Dahlin

Head Assistant Mr. Rick Dahlin born in Fargo in 1963. He served in the Army from'81-'84. He began his martialarts traing under Great Grand Master Yun in 1985. He received his 3rd Degree Black Belt in 2008.

Mister Jamie Cotney

•South Fargo Gym
Head Instructor Mr. Jamie Cotney joined the Marine Corps after graduating from Fargo North in 1991. He served from 1992 to1995. He and his wife Paullete moved back to Fargo to raise their three children, Chelsey 17, Taylor 15, and Cassidy 13.
Mr. Jamie enrolled his son in classes in 2002 and began taking classes himself in 2004 with daughters Chelsey and Cassidy soon following. He received his Black Belt in 2008.
