Student feedback
As a student and the parent of two (soon to be three) students, I have a unique perspective on RRTKD. I consider the genuine emphasis on tradition to be one of the many strengths of RRTKD. Two of my favorite examples of how my boys have grown from the traditional instruction follow:
My boys and I were recently at a hockey game (their first), when a fight broke out on the ice. The boys were puzzled why the hockey players would try to fight while on the ice as it didn't seem to be the place for it.
When the younger boy graduated from Kindergarten, he bowed to show respect to the Principal when he received his diploma. The Principal paused, took a breath and explained that no one had ever bowed to her before.
I know exactly where they learned to conduct themselves like this.
Master Jim is a demanding instructor with the unique ability to help students grow, both in character and in physical ability. I see the results in my boys and couldn't be prouder. As a student myself, I can say with confidence that Master Jim has very high expectations and is committed to helping his students meet them. I wouldn't have it any other way.
-Brent, student and father of two students
“My son was in hockey and soccer for many years. He never learned about self-control and respect until he started taking classes with Master Jim.”
-Jonah, parent of student
“My kids love the classes. They get exercise and learn good behaviour, we are very happy.”
-Sarah, parent of student
“Classes are not easy at all. But I guess that is why I keep going. I am in the best shape of my life as well as confident I can defend myself.”
